PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

Artificial snow powder turns into fluffy white snow the moment you add water - no refrigeration, no mess and no waiting. It is a cross-linked polymer that expands to about 200 times its volume on contact with water, forming clusters that look and feel like real snow but do not clump together.

The measure is one teaspoon - about 5 grams - to 100 ml of water. Pour the water on and watch it erupt; do not stir and do not mix, which only breaks up the clusters. Add more water and it turns slushy. A 900 g pack therefore makes about 180 batches, taking roughly 18 litres of water in total - which is why this size is the one event decorators and schools buy rather than the small packs.

It is reusable: leave the snow out for a couple of days, let the water evaporate, and it returns to powder ready for the next use. Safe to play with and non-toxic, made from a flame-retardant polymer - but it is not edible and must not be consumed. Used for Christmas and winter displays, Frozen-themed parties, village scenes and shop windows, school science demonstrations, craft projects, film and stage sets, and as an artificial base for ski displays.

HOW TO USE

  • Measure a teaspoon of powder — About 5 grams into a beaker, glass or bowl. Scale up in the same ratio for a larger display.
  • Add 100 ml of water — Pour the water in and stand back. The reaction takes a few seconds.
  • Do not stir — No stirring and no mixing. Agitating it breaks the clusters and you get slush instead of snow.
  • Add more water for slush — A little more water makes the cluster surfaces swell and stick together, which gives a wet, slushy texture if that is the effect you want.
  • Dry it out and reuse it — Leave the snow out until the water evaporates - a couple of days - and it goes back to powder for the next time.
